Burning by PG&E coal is the major cause of lung cancer. Can we power the whole state of California, 100% on solar & renewables? Germany claims they will be at 50% national power by 2022, from Solar, when they are going to shut down all their nukes. If Germany can do it, can California? We are now in the solar age. This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius. The economy of scale says we can power the whole world if we install enough solar panels, in an area the size of France. That area can be found on the roofs of 50% of the private homes of each nation. China now claims they will achieve 100% solar power by 2050. Can California do better? How does the Germany economy keep growing while the US is lost? In 1990 Germany passed a new Feed in Tariff law, which inspired home owners to get involved in installing solar panels on their roofs. The law guaranteed a premium payment for harvesting solar & feeding it onto the grid. This created a new type of world market based on solar energy. This created a 100 new types of jobs and products. Suddenly German glass makers were selling twice as much glass because solar makers were making these new solar cells. And they were making more than had ever been made before in history. Surprisingly, German steel maker were suddenly selling twice as much new steel to wind mill makers, as they had been selling to auto manufactures. It was shocking to Germans. This one new product, the solar cell was suddenly driving their whole economy in a <b>…</b>

I'm not sure, this is the first I've heard of such a break through. Chances are it didn't work out -or- if it was a truly viable product, an energy company "invested" in the project and then shut it down for one reason
