It is not preferable to use this option because often, the 12v power inverters with given 1kw or 2kw rating fails to provide better 1kw or 2kw power supply with 12v inverter when connected with the cigarette lighter socket of the car and you fail to use the 12v inverter to run some basic power tools such as drills, sanders, angle grinders etc that need proper 1kw power supply.
